The little 'feel good'-Holiday Home | Cottage in NRW
1 Bedroom Cottage in Sinzenich, NRW
As soon as you walk into this little house, you immediately feel at home. You first enter the rustic kitchen, which is equipped with a refrigerator, a sink, a glass-ceramic cooktop, and an L-shaped oven. Separated by a half-height kitchen counter, the spacious and comfortable dining room—featuring authentic colonial-style wooden furniture—adjoins the kitchen. Upstairs, to the left of the staircase, is the bathroom, which features a bathtub, a vanity, and a toilet, as well as plenty of shelves and storage options. The inviting, light-filled living room, which opens onto the gable end, is furnished with a modern corner sleeper sofa (sleeps 3 + 4), natural solid wood furniture, and charming details. It’s ideal for relaxing and features satellite TV and plenty of books. Integrated into this living space and easily accessible via a fixed wooden staircase is the comfortable and generously equipped loft for two people. New: A large natural wood cabinet with numerous compartments and hanging rods was custom-built and installed by a carpenter in 2013
In the village itself: Sinzenich is a medium-sized village with nearby bike paths and hiking trails. Short hikes to our “chapel” on the Eulenberg or along the Rotbach and Marienbach streams are also easy for inexperienced hikers. There’s a bakery with an attached café here; in Zülpich or Kommern, about 5 km away, you’ll find the usual supermarket chains and charming little specialty shops for all kinds of shopping. A lovely German pub, the Rotbachklause—where you can also enjoy a good meal if you don’t feel like cooking—is located in the town center. A vintage café has also been open for some time. There, you can enjoy a small but exquisite selection of pastries and ever-changing coffee specialties while sitting on retro furniture. A general practitioner and a dentist are available locally in case of an emergency, and our many local clubs and groups organize numerous festivals, so there’s always something happening in town to entice you to stay.
Within a 5-km radius: Two lakes offer nature lovers and athletes alike a wide range of recreational activities nearby: Lake Zülpicher, with a swimming beach, a surf and sailing school, and tennis courts, is about 1.5 km from Sinzenich. Füssenicher, home to rare birds and animals, is about 5 km away. A beautiful equestrian center is about 800 m from my home. In Zülpich, a charming little town with a Roman heart, you’ll find numerous specialty shops, restaurants, cafés, and boutiques, as well as all the major supermarkets for larger purchases. Don’t miss a visit to the famous, newly redesigned Roman baths and the local museum. If the weather isn’t so good, the Eifeltherme in Firmenich is ideal for relaxation; it can also save a rainy day with its new sauna area and beautiful wellness area.
About 15–40 km away: Phantasialand amusement park; the district town of Euskirchen with its city theater, movie theater, swimming pool, and pedestrian zone; Cologne; Bonn—major cities with a full range of cultural offerings such as museums, churches, a zoo, hiking, and boating on the Rursee; the ancient Roman town of Bad Münstereifel with its historic downtown; Satzvey Castle with medieval knight tournaments, music concerts in the Knights’ Hall, and numerous seasonal markets. The neighboring town of Kommern (about 5 km away), with its open-air museum and numerous exhibitions, also offers a pleasant day trip on days when the weather is changeable, as you can explore both the outdoor areas and the exhibition halls.
