Critter Mountain Ranch is situated on Granath Mesa, 2 1/2 miles from Dolores, part of a two-site alpaca ranch.
The ranch is perfect for a family get-away, writer's retreat, artist's haven, pastor's retreat, or just a place to relax in the quiet rural setting.
The ranch style house has an attached garage where you can park your car out of the elements along with your bikes, ski gear, etc.
The house will accommodate eight. Children are welcome.
There is a large living area with two enclosed porches where you can lounge, enjoy the great scenery, or even sleep. The house has two bedrooms with queen-size beds and two bathrooms. A porch facing south allows you to view the La Plata Mountains to the east, Mesa Verde to the south, and The Sleeping Ute Mountain in the southwest as you relax in the comfy chairs and enjoy the barbecue.
A fully equipped kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and toaster oven as well as many cooking utensils and dishes. A large dining table in the living area seats eight comfortably. We also have a washer and dryer.
There is a fenced-in yard with a doggy door into the garage so your canine friend can accompany you.
A caretaker will be available to answer any questions you might have.
Critter Mountain Ranch has 16 alpacas which you can watch from the windows and even visit the barn as long as a ranch hand accompanies you. You may see a rancher in the early morning and/or evening as the alpacas are fed and watered.
Biking trails are within a mile of the property and The Nature Center at Butler Corner, with six miles of hiking trails is two miles away where you can see more alpacas, goats, and other farm animals.
Hesperus Ski Area is forty-five minutes away, Telluride one hour, Mesa Verde an hour to the south, and Canyonlands and the Navajo Reservation just a short drive away.
Dolores, the nearest town, is two and a half miles from the ranch and has many amenities including a grocery store, general store, hair stylist, several restaurants, gas stations, Post Office, and library.
