If you are looking for serenity and the overwhelming beauty of nature you are at the right place. The glacier house is nestled between a pine forest at approximately 10,200 feet of elevation. There are stunning views of the nearby mountain range from the deck of the house. St Mary’s glacier offers a plethora of hiking and off roading trails. The town of Idaho springs offers shops, restaurants, dispensaries, and breweries. The tallest paved road in North America is about a 40-minute drive away.
The space
The number one priority of this space is to have fun in a respectful manner.
The Glacier House is a residential home turned vacation rental. Please make yourself at home as this property is fully furnished. The views from the house are quite exquisite. This home will give you the full mountain experience. Expect snow in the winter. There is a wood burning fireplace in the laundry room and a furnace for connivence. Feel free to use the wood burner. Furnace can be controlled by a thermostat in the basement.
Upstairs you will find a living room, kitchen, one bathroom, and two bedrooms. The upstairs gas fireplace upstairs is inoperable at this time. There are two televisions upstairs in the bedrooms, one in the living room, and multiple board games. TV's are equipped with streaming applications. Downstairs is a living room, bathroom, two bedrooms, and utility room. The living room downstairs has a television, xbox360, roku, and a plethora of DVDs. Wifi speed is 80mbps. Currently there is one full size bed upstairs, a queen bed upstairs, one full size bed in the basement, and a queen bed in the basement.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking with spices. There is a blender, pots, pans, toaster, coffee pot, microwave, tons of silverware and kitchen supplies. The laundry room is located downstairs in the back room. Travel tooth- paste, toothbrushes, soaps, and shampoos are supplied. Dogs are welcome but make sure that your booking includes the pet.
There is a lower lot to park in or you can park up by the garage. A fence surrounds the back of the house, but the Winter months can present with a large amount of snow in the back. Feel free to enter at the door by the garage or the door at the top of the deck stairs, the key in the lockbox works for both. Be careful to not lock the deadbolts on the doors as the key only unlocks the door handles. Down the road is the trailhead to St. Mary’s glacier which is a very rewarding hike for a small amount of effort.
Guest access
You can use the entire house. Feel free to do laundry. There is a large garbage can in the utility room downstairs for garbage bags. Recycling (cardboard aluminum cans tin glass and plastic) go in the plastic bins. Do not use a garbage bag for these. The gas fireplace upstairs is having issues and is currently not in service. Please feel free to contact me with questions. Wifi speed is 80 mgps which is the max for the St. Marys community.
Other things to note
Fulll disclaimer: This is a mountain home, while we do everything in our power to keep things in top condition there may be dust inside. In winter months there may be snow on the stairs deck driveway, etc.
4x4 or awd is a must in the winter as snow and weather can be unpredictable. Make sure to stock up on supplies in the town of Idaho springs before arriving. The nearest grocery is Safeway in Idaho springs which is a 25 minute drive. There is complementary coffee. Anything in the kitchen is for guests to eat / use.
