The Space:

Now for the fun stuff.... we LOVE THIS HOUSE!
This home was originally built in 1955 and is located in the sought-after neighborhood of Sloans Lake in west Denver. It is about 2 miles from downtown Denver and a 20 min drive to Red Rocks and the entrance to the Rocky Mountains!
We purchased the home in 2020 and renovated it almost down to the studs (it was a single owner until we bought it!) We created a separate 3 BR/2 bath apartment in the walkout basement which has been an airbnb for the last 1.5 years while we normally live in the upstairs (almost a mirror layout of the basement... 3 BR/2 bath). We are planning on being "snowbirds" this winter for a few months, hence this listing for the whole house! You can see some reviews from "LOLA" (basement apartment) in the photos above. The upstairs and downstairs are connected via an indoor staircase with a door that is normally locked when we are home. This also means there is basically 2 of everything... including two kitchens, two living rooms, and two washers and dryers!
Here are the details of each space:
UPSTAIRS LIVING ROOM: sectional sofa with smart TV (apple TV) and basic cable
UPSTAIRS KITCHEN: Stainless appliances including gas stove and plenty of cooking utencels, pots, and pans, etc.
UPSTAIRS MASTER BEDROOM / ENSUITE BATHROOM: Spacious room with king bed with memory foam mattress, large shower with rain shower head, and dual vanity
UPSTAIRS ADDITIONAL BEDROOMS: The corner bedroom has a queen bed + electric stand-up desk (has a motor to move up and down). The middle bedroom has a twin trundle bed (just pull the bottom out to reveal another mattress), as well as another stand-up desk. We work from home... hence the desks... but note that the monitors pictured will not be staying when we are away. However the youtube setup (in the trundle room) will be... just not the camera. If you are a youtube/podcaster, just bring your own laptop and camera and you'll have the perfect set-up!
UPSTAIRS HALLWAY BATHROOM: This bathroom was added during the renovation and includes a tub/shower.
DOWNSTAIRS LIVING ROOM: This space is meant to be a little more edgy and fun with a sectional sofa, smart TV, and dining table (plus some craft stuff for the kiddos!) We also supply some family games to enjoy here!
DOWNSTAIRS KITCHEN: Again, this room has everything you need to cook... even a dishwasher!
DOWNSTAIRS MASTER BEDROOM & ENSUITE BATHROOM: Another large room with a king bed awaits you, and the bathroom includes a shower and a large cedar closet where an ironing board/iron, space heater, and pack-n-play are stored if you need them!
DOWNSTAIRS ADDITIONAL BEDROOMS: We are huge Schitt's Creek fans (if you haven't seen it, you MUST!) and we saw an opportunity to turn one bedroom into a copy of the "rosebud motel" in the show... so that's what we did! It's a favorite with our guests! This room has a queen bed. The other room is similar to upstairs in that it has a twin trundle as well as a peloton bike to use if you'd like!
DOWNSTAIRS HALLWAY BATHROOM: Same as upstairs... bathtub/shower combo, etc. (and some of my favorite tile in the house!)
This basement apartment also has an entrance on street level if you would like to use it.
EXTERIOR:
The front and backyard are both fully fenced (perfect for pups!) but obviously in the winter, you probably won't be spending much time out there. There is also a covered patio in the back (but again, it won't be usable in the winter).
Guest Access:
The only space that guests may not be able to access is the garage. It's use may be able to be arranged with plenty of notice.
The Neighborhood:
Sloans Lake is a friendly, urban neighborhood in the heart of Denver, just west of downtown. You will enjoy the architecture and character of the neighborhood while being able to be "car-less" if you wish to be! Public transportation is readily available and loads of destinations are walkable (including downtown, restaurants, bars, and the lake!)
Highlander is located:
• .75 mile from Sloans Lake
• 75 mile from the Highlands shops (many great restaurants!)
• 2 miles from Downtown Denver's LoDo neighborhood which includes Union Station, Coors Field, and Ball Arena
• 1 mile to Bronco Stadium
• 16. miles to Red Rocks (25 min drive)
• 8 miles to the Denver Zoo and City Park
Getting Around:
There is a bus stop 2 blocks away to get you into downtown without driving or walking and the light rail station (W line) is about 2 miles away!
Other Things to Note:
The house is located on a mildly busy street. There is a fire station just a few blocks away so you will hear ambulances, etc. sometimes. The previous owner of the home (again, single owner for 65 years) DEFINITELY smoked because you may smell a faint cigarette smell. We do not smoke, we do not allow smoking in the home, and we have mitigated it as much as we possibly could. This includes painting the entire interior of the house.... TWICE (we are talking layers of paint here), and have installed a top of the line air filtration system. If even super faint cigarette smell bothers you, our home might not be the best for you. But if you love vintage and character (and the scents that go with them), like going inside old banks, etc then you will love our place! And last... just like the diverse & urban neighborhood, we welcome people of all races, cultures, genders, religions.
