Savannah is an hour's drive north.The charming town of Darien is three miles to the south and Harris Neck Wild Life Refuge is a 25 minute drive to the north. Sapelo Island is nearby. More History of the home....After the city of Darien was burned by Union troops in 1863, many timber merchants, bar pilots and physicians built new homes on this slight bluff three miles away from Darien Just above the river.

Sapelo Island makes for a wonderful day trip, but you must plan ahead for the tour and ferry trip. Don't miss Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge. Harris Neck NWR provides premier nesting, foraging, and wintering habitat for a diversity of wildlife. Signature species include threatened wood storks, which nest in a large colony on Woody Pond, and the colorful and uncommon painted bunting.
