"Glamping" - glamour camping. Located a short 500 feet walk (through wooded oaks and cypress) to the edge of the Santa Fe River and to the main Lodge, Turtle Heaven is the perfect place to escape, paddle, canoe, cave dive, float or birdwatch. Near Historic High Springs and 40 min. from Gainesville, Turtle Heaven is a cute, quaint trailer on the beautiful wooded Lazy Turtle Lodge estate (10 acres). The basic charge is for two (2) guests including children. Additional guests will be charged $25/per/night. Turtle Heaven has a queen bed, mini fridge, living area, microwave, hot plate and large bathroom with a claw foot soaking tub and hand-held shower. All linens, towels, shampoo, and complimentary coffee and tea are provided. An outdoor shower for two (common to both units) is also available (as well as shower wraps/robes) and loved by all our guests especially on moonlit nights. Picnic table and weber charcoal grill but NO kitchen (hot plate provided for light cooking). Turtle Heaven has digital HVAC, overhead fans and two plug in heaters for winter time. There are rocking chairs on the porch looking out over the woods. Full cooking facilities, in a separate trailer, can be made available for an additional cleaning fee of $35. Limited local TV channels but there is a DVD player and VHS including DVD's and tapes. There is NO Internet at the unit but Wi-Fi is available around the Main Lodge at river's edge. Decorated in a "shabby chic" style, Turtle Heaven is a restful and happy place to be where time is slow and easy. The Lazy Turtle Lodge is a 10 acre estate, set in a quiet and beautiful oak, cypress and Spanish moss hammock on the banks of the Santa Fe River, one of North Florida's most beautiful spring fed rivers. The estate includes Turtle Heaven (the trailer) and Turtle Palace (the camper also listed), and the main Lodge (owner's residence). Peace, tranquility, wildlife and beautiful sunsets are the norm. Turtle Palace is also a 1.5 mile country walk to Rum Island Park and a short drive to Oleno St. Park. It is also across from Lily Springs, downriver from Poe Springs and upriver from Ginnie Springs. Guests can float/paddle directly from the dock at the Lazy Turtle Lodge to Rum Island Park or put in at US 441 or US 27 for a longer river ride to the Lodge. Canoe and kayak rentals are available at Rum 138 on the corner of CR 138 and Rum Island Terrace and can be delivered on-site. Whether you want to canoe, kayak, paddle board, float, fish or simple watch the river go by on the dock, Turtle Palace is the place to completely get away from big city stress. "Glamping" and ecotourism at its best. All guests will be asked to sign a General Accident and Release of Liability Form at check in.
