3 Bedroom Cabin in Boulder
This peaceful mountain home features an expansive deck, great room, and gourmet kitchen with views over Sunshine Canyon and Denver. The property is adjacent to open space and hiking trails and is perfect for a retreat. This stylish home has glowing pine floors upstairs and natural saltillo tiles downstairs, and stainless steel appliances throughout. It has everything you'll need for a vacation or stay near Boulder.
Guest amenities: There are two bathrooms and two bedrooms upstairs. The upstairs bedrooms include a large room with private deck and one with a queen bed, one twin day bed, and master bath, the second kids' room has two twin beds. Downstairs there is a large bedroom with a queen bed and desk with French doors to a lower level patio. All linens are high quality white cotton and used by our guests only. This is a non-smoking house. We don't have a TV but we do have business-class WIFI so bring your screens with you or enjoy reading in one of the rocking chairs or swinging bench on the front porch.
Pets: Dogs are welcome! We have a large crate that are happy to point you towards or you can simply leave them inside when you aren't around as long as you assume responsibility for their behavior and damages. The yard is not fenced. Please do not use the people blankets as dog blankets. Please do not allow your dog on the leather sofa. The trails near the house are all dog-friendly (and off-leash) but be aware of wildlife from skunks to bears.
Note: There is an additional one bedroom apartment downstairs that for summer 2020 is rented to our tenant Julie and her two sweet, elderly dogs Mowgli and Baloo. Julie has lived in Sunshine for many years and knows the area well. The apartment is locked off from the main house, there are no shared spaces, decks, parking, or keys and it is fully self-contained.
Location: We are in the foothills 25 minutes door to door from downtown Boulder (Pearl Street), and another 2500' up from town at the "Sunshine Saddle". The house elevation is 7500' and several trails start off to local peaks, mining areas, and other historic former mining towns from the door. Trails including both hiking and biking to Left Hand Canyon, Butzel Hill, Lee Hill, and Sunshine. Access is via winding Sunshine Canyon Drive and 2 miles of County maintained dirt road. In the winter please prepare for snow and drive a 4WD or AWD vehicle. Eldora Ski area is 45 - 60 minutes away either via Boulder or Gold Hill (the pretty way!).
What about COVID-19 quarantines? Our neighbor Holly has agreed to take over the cleaning between guests and she has identified extra steps to disinfect our house. In addition to clean sheets, towels, and tea towels, she will spend time both cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles) before you check in. The best recommendations change to adapt to our status as a country as we face this pandemic. Please check current local recommendations for travel and respect the current guidelines for closures and social distancing at the time of your stay.
Owner & Manager: Owners Mindy and Ben were married in Sunshine just down the road at a VRBO in 2009 and have lived in this home since 2014 with our 3 kids & dog. We love the area, especially going for walks so you'll see that descriptions our favorite trails are part of the guide book we've created. During the summer months we travel to care for my elderly mom on her Central Coast ranch. My wonderful neighbor Eleanor manages the house and lives just 10 minutes down the road. Our tenant Julie is a wonderful resource too. Professional cleaning & linen service is by Holly who lives just down the road and has a professional business for many years.
