Are you looking for something out of the ordinary and to experience nature? Your Adventure awaits you at our mountain top geodesic dome oasis on the Backside of Casper Mountain. Our cabin is a piece of the mountain's history being one of few domes left in the area. This space is not for the typical traveler. If you are looking for the outdoors and a somewhat better than camping experience our Dome is the perfect space for you. Located on a private mountain road our cabin has one of the best views on Casper mountain.
In the summer months, the area is full of wildlife and is an outdoor adventure. During the winter months after there is enough snowfall (end of October - late April), the road becomes a network of groomed snowmobile trails and is accessible via snow recreation vehicles, snowshoes, and cross-country skis. Our cabin offers beautiful views and opportunities for recreation. The basement floor is currently being remodeled, the booking is for the main floor and sleeping loft only at this time.
The space
We are in the process of restoring the cabin basement. The entire main floor, loft, deck, and two acres of pristine mountain property will be at your fingertips to explore and experience with easy keypad access. Enjoy access to mountain bliss and make memories with your family and friends. The dome is accessed via a groomed snowmobile trail in the winter months and recreational snow vehicles, snowshoes, or cross-country skis are required for access of the 1.6 miles of road into the property.
There is a full kitchen with an oven, refrigerator, coffee pot, and microwave with basic cooking utensils and amenities. The loft is accessed via a ladder and can host air mattresses; the main floor has a queen sleeper sofa there are no traditional beds. The loft may not be suitable for small children and some guests, as you will need to climb an attached ladder to access it.
Let us know if you would like us to prepare air mattresses prior to your arrival and we will have them ready for your stay.
*NOTE: the road into the property is accessible by snow recreation vehicles only when there is snow on the Mountain. The conditions may rapidly change if storms are in the forecast.
While our space is well-appointed, this isn’t the Ritz! Be prepared for an adventure on the rustic side (yeah, we have electricity and seasonally running water)!
The cistern is for washing and bathroom use only, so be sure to use bottled water of some sort to cook and stay hydrated! There is a limited water supply to the cabin. The cabin is on a septic system but it can be slow to flush as it is old. (Better than an outhouse)
This is a Cabin in the mountains. Dust, bugs, and nature will find their way into The Dome. This listing is an adventure not to be confused with a five-star hotel. This is not your typical vacation home. It is intended for guests looking for something out of the ordinary and to experience nature. It lacks many of the comforts found in a typical home in town.
The topography is rough and not landscaped, but offers amazing views and wildlife. The roads can be a challenge for guests not accustomed to mountain road driving.
Weather and nature can affect the roads. Pay attention to the weather and make educated decisions on whether your vehicle may or may not be able to drive in and out of the area.
